The Business of Being Born - Trailer

I've seen Ricki Lake on numerous talk shows discussing this, and I'm fascinated. What do you think?

She feels very stongly about this, and I am glad her plan has worked out for her, but no plan is universally right. Pregnancy is generally scary the more you look into it and read about what can go wrong. In reality DONT READ TOO MUCH. Do your own research, listen to your Dr and figure out what is right for you.
I understand she is pro midwife and leans away from doctors, but the truth is that a mid wife is not anywhere near as trained as a Dr and if something goes wrong it can get worse very quickly. True maybe only a very small fraction of births have such complications (I am not going into detail on them) but when it is someone (actually 2 people) you care about in the situation, I would rather take every measure to be prepared for the worst. There are very few 'minor complications' during birth, most have the potential to be terrible. That is my opinion, but pregnancy, like most things, is a private matter that everyone needs to make their own decisions on. Just don't forget your Dr is a very skilled specialist who knows more about this than you do, but don't be afraid to ask for information or other qualified opinons.

I agree, research is a must. I haven't seen the film, but I think she's an advocate of researching too, more than saying you should go one route or the other. But your point is definitely taken.
