I saw Waitress last night and I really enjoyed it. Basically, it's a movie about a small-town waitress seeking a higher level of life, not really enjoying the hand she was dealt and baking pies and giving them names reflecting that. The bigger picture is that she's trying to discover her greater truth, but along that road you get to see the touching, funny, and heartbreaking life that she endures. Some movies are rollercoasters, but this movie is like floating through the air or taking a nice, long summer walk with a warm breeze. Keri Russell is luminous, truly.
On a more tragic note, the director Adrienne Shelly was killed just before this movie went to Sundance, read more about it here. Another tidbit is that Keri Russell was in the Mickie Mouse club along with Christina Aguilera, Britney, Justin, and Ryan Gosling (yes, true).
